    In latest figures to come out of the US, the American wine market is expected to rise in value this year but dip in volume, with a continuing trend for drinks to drink less but better quality. Read about the trends In the Shanken news media here.

    Will we see the same trend in Australia? Early figures suggest it's certainly on the cards, although tempered by an increase in local volumes keeping a lid on prices. Still, premiumisation is the biggest buzzword in wine right now, and as we discussed here, the wealthy over-50s cohort are the ones drinking wine, and they can afford better quality.
